Rifle Paper Co kindly sent me a package full of goodies from their Primavera collection including this cotton. I had 2 yards so I decided to do a short Tilly and the Buttons Indigo dress.

As with the one I made previously, I added waist ties at the sides of the bodice that tie up at the back. I didn’t do the outside gathered detail as I wanted to keep as much length as possible but I did do it on the sleeves. It’s by far my favourite detail of this pattern.

I used bias binding to finish the neckline mainly because the fabric is already quite thick. I used a contrasting Rifle Paper Co print. For the hem, I’d cut the skirt along the selvedge – I always try to preserve it in Rifle Paper Co prints because it’s so pretty. I just folded it up one and stitched it so you can still see it on the inside.

And voila, it was such a quick and satisfying sew and although it’s shorter than my usual dresses I think the print really suits the 1960s vibe.
