I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix Christmas films which might explain why I got the urge to make a Christmassy pouffy, elf-inspired dress. The kind of dress that the main character would be wearing and you *think* she might be related to Santa because that’s usually how it goes, but also it’s normal enough for real life. That.

I drafted the bodice myself with darts and a high round neck, and a simple gathered skirt. For the sleeves I decided to use the bishop sleeves from the By Hand London Hannah pattern for extra oomph. Since they were the main feature of the dress I kept it quite short and sweet.

For extra Christmas appeal I added some embroidery detail which I did on my Pfaff and took a lot longer than a usual hem but it was very easy.

And there she is, my Christmas dress for any Christmassy days out.
