Royal Blue Tencel Magnolia dress

Ever since I made my bridesmaids dress for my brother’s wedding , I couldn’t stop thinking about the royal blue colour way of the tencel cupro fabric. It’s one of my favourite colours ever and I thought it would make a perfect Deer and Doe Magnolia.

I intended to make something completely different for the New Craft House winter party, planning a 60s mini dress in tapestry fabric, but I just felt excited about making this one and I knew it would be something I could wear again and again. It also fit the theme of Studio 54 pretty well so I went for it.

It was a very quick sew, mainly because I’d already made a small bust adjustment to the bodice on a previous version. The only change I made was to make the sleeves a bit wider and longer so that they had more pouffe at the wrist and shoulder. I made the tip of the sleeve piece about 2cm higher when cutting it out and made the width about 4cm wider.

Et voila! I love this one mainly because I could wear it in winter or summer and it’s such a timeless colour and style. And I know it won’t be my last Magnolia dress!
