Liberty Print Betty/Emery Dress

After my William Morris version I thought a Liberty version of this Sew Over It Betty and Christine Haynes Emery hybrid was in order. I went to Shaukat in Kensington and after much deliberation chose this probably slightly too autumnal Liberty print, Lauren’s Leaf. I used a teal coloured concealed zip as I thought it complemented the colours without being too wintry.

About half way through, I wasn’t sure whether to go ahead with the sleeves (I actually attached and removed them about 3 times before I made a final decision!) but I knew that having sleeves would make the dress more wearable throughout the seasons. I had to take off a bit of length and tone down the puff of the sleeves as I was worried they might look a bit clowny so I’m glad I took my time with them in the end.

I’m pretty happy with the end result as I think it’s really wearable for lots of occasions – I’ll definitely be making more in this style for Autumn but next up is definitely summer sewing.
