My friend Sarah recently had a little boy called Alfie and when I heard he was due, I knew I had to make something with Liberty’s Queue for the Zoo print that I have had in my stash for so long. I decided on these oh so cute baby dungarees from Puperita on Etsy. Puperita has some great toddler and baby pattern PDFs at really affordable prices. I decided to make little Alfie age 6-9 months as hopefully then he will get more wear out of them than smaller sizes – just as well as he is a big boy!
The pattern was really easy to follow and it wasn’t too complicated even for beginners. I decided to use a contrasting polka dot fabric for the lining which I think looks really cute when rolled up – and is also really practical for altering the length for growing legs!
I looked high and low for some animal shaped buttons but decided in the end to make my own self-cover buttons and pick out some of the animals in the print. In the end I think this actually worked out better as shaped buttons wouldn’t have been as practical. For ultimate practicality you could substitute the buttons for poppers.
I can’t wait to see Alfie in these – I think they would look lovely with a navy and white striped top underneath – or even with some matching baby shoes. I have plans to make another one of these in a smaller size for a friend so am looking forward to seeing how cute they look in an even smaller size!
They are gorgeous.
Thanks very much Clarinda!
