So Paul Smith are opening a new store in London’s Beak Street and, to celebrate, have a competition to design an envelope to feature on the wall of the shop. When my friend told me about the competition, I decided to design an envelope in the style of my hand sewn bunting cards. I cut the envelope out of card and assembled it myself so it stayed sturdy when sewing.
This was the result:
Although the fabric isn’t quite Paul Smith worthy, I wanted to go for stripes and make something that reminded me of British summer and, more importantly, that would be exciting to receive in the post! The little bird in the corner was born out of the fact that it’s ‘Beak Street’ and also because I didn’t want to offend the Queen by trying to draw her on a stamp!
